Maradona: I prefer Mourinho to Guardiola

Argentinean legend Diego Maradona rates Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho above his Barcelona counterpart Pep Guardiola.

Many have found it hard to separate the two tacticians with Mourinho widely hailed as the 'Special One' and Guardiola credited for turning Barcelona into arguably the best footballing side in the world today.

But who better to answer that question than Maradona, who was forced into a corner to provide his personal preference between the two.

"If I were a president, I would hire Mourinho first, certainly because of his experience," Maradona said in an interview with Spanish daily Marca.

"I believe however that Pep is a guy who has been touched by a magic wand, make no mistake that he is a hard worker. If Mourinho had the time that Guardiola has had [in Spanish football], things might be more equal."

Finally, when asked who he feels is the best player in La Liga beside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona's answer came as a surprise.

"Removing Messi and Ronaldo, Marcelo is the best player in the league right now."

Despite Maradona's clear preference towards Madrid, it is Guardiola's men who are likely to have the last laugh as they currently lead the La Liga by five points.
